Of course, since this device connects to your home Wi-Fi, you won't be able to use it outside of your network's range. I personally have kept my Talli portable, because it makes it easier to move from room-to-room, and whoever is babysitting can also have quick access to it wherever. There are two ways to use the Talli Baby tracker: you can keep it portable, or mount it on a wall with the slots on the back/bottom of the device. It's hard to get to your phone when you're juggling a baby and a bottle or a poopy diaper - pushing a single button is much easier, and let's you continue what you're doing without worry. Using the micro-USB port for power will extend the battery life, but Talli says that the device is designed to run on batteries. Optionally, there is a micro-USB port on the side of the tracker, which can be used to power the device. With fresh batteries, the Talli Baby tracker should last around 4-6 months with regular use. I like that it uses batteries, honestly, because it's one less thing to remember to recharge. A screwdriver is needed to get the cover off though. Talli Baby tracker runs on four AA batteries, which you insert into the bottom of the base. There is also a Wi-Fi LED indicator, which lets you know when data is being transmitted to your Talli account via Wi-Fi, or if there is a problem with your Wi-Fi connection. There are eight buttons on the surface: Bottle Feed, Solid Food, Wet Diaper, Dirty Diaper, Sleep, Nursing, Pumping, and Miscellaneous, which is a multipurpose button you can customize in the app. It's like a small box with rounded edges. The body consists of a white plastic on the top and a faux wooden material for the bottom half. The Talli Baby tracker is a simple device. Resilient Mom works with hospital systems that serve communities of color to provide expecting moms with pregnancy apps that are tailored to their area, complete with details about specific pregnancy stages, informative videos, classes to take and ways to contact providers who speak multiple languages. In particular, McKever says technology can be used to reduce pregnancy-related sickness and death, especially for women of color. "As a woman of a certain age that has children, our education came through a brochure, through our OB and what we read in What to Expect When You're Expecting, but younger women who are having children now are inundated with so much content and so much information, pregnancy apps are really a comprehensive way to give them appropriate and accurate healthcare information," says Tiffany McKever, co-founder of Resilient Mom. Why does your back suddenly hurt? What's safe to eat right now? Should you be exercising? Is your baby's growth on track? Pregnancy apps are a modern tool to inform you about your baby's development, help you take care of your body and put your mind at ease. Whether you're in the midst of your first pregnancy or your fifth pregnancy, it's an exciting time of change.
